OUR STORY

Artistic Excellence • Emotional Impact

The Dublin Silver Band is a group of professional-level musicians that volunteer their time and talent because of three things they all have in common: a drive to chase perfection, a genuine affection for each other, and a passion for making connections with audiences on an emotional level.

To make these connections, the band commits to performing far more than ordinary concerts, instead telling stories that engage the audience in the musical performance. It is this approach that has earned the band an international reputation.

Our Philosophy

"The Dublin Silver Band exists for the entertainment of our audiences, the enjoyment of our members, and the pride of our community."

Our first three priorities are musical excellence, programming innovation, and a positive member experience. We endeavor to measure our level of excellence against the very best brass bands in this country and around the world.

Tim Jameson - Musical Director

Tim Jameson

Musical Director

Tim Jameson has been the Music Director of the Dublin Silver Band since its founding in 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University and has spent most of his life directing community bands. In 1984, Tim became Director of the Rockwell International Concert Band, a community ensemble sponsored by North American Rockwell in Columbus, Ohio. When Rockwell closed its Columbus facility in 1988, he and John Bierley founded the Westerville Concert Band. Tim served as Director there until 2001, then joined the Brass Band of Columbus as a cornet player. Four years later, the members selected him to follow Founder Paul Droste as Director, a role he held from 2005 to 2010.

Tim is President of the Board of Directors of the Dublin Community Bands, a 501(c)(3) organization which he founded in 2010. The Dublin Community Bands has grown to include six separate ensembles with a total of over 250 participants, ranging in age from teenagers to octogenarians. These ensembles present dozens of performances throughout the year for the entertainment of our audiences, the enjoyment of the members, and as an example of the lifelong value of music-making. Under his leadership, the Dublin Silver Band has earned multiple popular and critical accolades, including an international reputation for both artistic excellence and creative performance. He also led DSB to North American Brass Band Association Championships first-place finishes in 2015, 2019, and 2025.

One of Tim's favorite memories with the Dublin Silver Band dates back to 2013 at the US Open, when the phrase “FSU” was born. Known for creativity, doing things differently, and pushing the envelope of performance and staging practices, the band inspired a backstage comment from a member of the Prairie Brass Band asking if they were going to “'foul situations up' again?” The phrase has become the band's rallying cry and motivation ever since that day.

Tim is justifiably proud of his family's remarkable musical footprint. His wife Tina has been involved with DCI Drum Corps since 2007 and is currently Assistant Director of the Madison Scouts. His older son, Josh, is a published composer and arranger, former Drum Corps member and Drum Major, ex-US Army musician, and currently plays bass trombone in DSB. His younger son, Grant, is a world-class euphonium player, winner of the BBC Young Brass Player of the Year competition — the only American to date — and currently serves as Principal Euphonium with the Dallas Winds and Director of the Dallas Brass Band.

Tim retired from his career as a Corporate Learning and Development Director in 2025. Outside of music, he enjoys gardening, woodworking, cycling, hiking, and traveling. His dedication to community, mentorship, and music education is reflected in the culture of DSB and the Dublin Community Bands as a whole. He says “the only thing better than making music is making music with people you love.”
